Mills Launch Annual Maintenance In Dec Amid Weak Demand
Dec 17, 2018

The cooling of steel demand now that winter has taken hold across most parts of China has led many more steelmakers to announce maintenance plans this month.

Mysteel's latest irregular survey of maintenance projects planned by mills published on December 12 showed that eight more steel enterprises plan blast furnace stoppages for maintenance this month. Combined with the pig iron production capability of those units still undergoing maintenance, the total numbers of mills affected by this has increased to 30.

In the latest information, the specific situation affecting the next week (12.17-12.23) is as follows: the impact of molten iron production is at least 456,600 tons, affecting the output of finished products at least 316,600 tons.
