How To Distinguish Hot-rolled Steel Plate From Cold-rolled Steel Plate?
Jun 06, 2018

First, by the carbon content to distinguish

Hot rolled steel has a slightly higher carbon content than cold rolled steel. The density is the same in the case of small component holding. However, if there is a large difference in composition, for example, the density of stainless steel plates with cold rolling and hot rolling is around 7.9g/cm3. Concrete also depends on the composition, hot-rolled steel is just more malleable, steel is also under pressure.

Two, by density

Hot rolled steel is divided into structural steel, low carbon steel, welded bottle steel, and then according to various steel to find the steel you need, in particular steel density and composition.

Hot rolled steel plate has low hardness, easy processing and good ductility. Hot rolled steel plate surface quality almost (oxidation, low roughness), but the plastic is good, in general, manufacture for medium plate, high strength, high hardness, high surface finish, generally for sheet, can be used as a drawing board.

Cold rolled plate hardness high, processing relatively difficult, but not easy deformation, high strength.

Third, through the production process to distinguish

Hot - rolled steel and cold - rolled steel production process is different. Hot rolled steel is rolled at high temperature and cold rolled at room temperature. Generally speaking, cold rolled steel plate has better strength, hot rolled steel plate has better ductility, China iron and steel spot net has detailed quotation difference between hot rolled steel plate and cold rolled steel plate. The general thickness of cold rolling is small, hot rolling can have a larger thickness. The surface quality, appearance and dimension precision of cold-rolled steel plate are better than hot-rolled steel plate, and its product thickness is about 0.18mm, so it is more popular. The acceptance of the products can be conducted by professionals.

Hot rolled steel, far less mechanical properties than cold processing, also inferior to forging processing, but good toughness and ductility.

Cold rolled steel sheet due to a certain degree of strain hardening, toughness is low, but can reach better showed, used for cold bending spring pieces and parts, at the same time due to the yield point is close to the tensile strength, so no foresight to danger, in use process in the load exceeds allowable load are prone to accidents.

The difference between:

1) the cold plate is made of non-oxidized leather, with good quality. Hot - rolled steel plate using hot - tie processing surface has oxide skin, plate thickness has bottom difference.

2) hot-rolled steel plate has poor ductility and surface smoothness, and its price is lower, while cold-rolled steel plate has good extensibility and toughness, but its price is higher.

3) the rolling process is divided into cold rolling and hot rolling steel plate, with recrystallization temperature as the distinguishing point.

4) cold rolling: cold rolling is generally used to produce strip material with high rolling speed.

Hot rolled steel plate: hot rolled temperature and forged temperature

5) the surface of galvanized steel plate is black and brown, and the surface of non-plated cold steel plate is gray. After plating, it can be distinguished from the surface smoothness.
